Talking to Strangers: September 21 - October 5

Do you talk to strangers?

You know sometimes us folks from NJ like to brag a bit about how we don't really like talking to others. We want people to leave us alone. We don't talk to folks walking on the sidewalk. We don't always say Hello to strangers.

But recently I've found this not to be a universal truth. Many folks from NJ do infact talk to strangers. Do you? If so, when? Where? Why? Tell us about it.

After Lori's sermon about talking to strangers I tried it with great success. I called the lady at the cash register at stop and shop by name. We started a conversation and strangely enough it turned out that her and I had a lot in common. Her name is Leila and as I she came to this country 22 years ago. She is from Egypt and lived in Germany for a while. It was a wonderful conversation that made me feel good and I know she felt the same way. We encounter many people in our lifes. Most of the time we don't bother to truly notice them, make eye contact, etc. I have been trying to notice people around me more and make contact. After all we are one big family living together on one planet.
